When a medical emergency arises onboard, BVI boaters look to V.I. Search and Rescue (VISAR) for help. Now, the volunteer-based VISAR needs our assistance to ensure that they have the right tools to come to the aid of the captains and crews sailing the territory’s waters.
Made up of very highly trained and incredibly selfless volunteers, VISAR is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, as first responders for all marine-related medical emergencies in the BVI. With bases in Road Town, Tortola, and Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda, VISAR’s mission is to “Save lives at Sea.”
Furthering that mission, the group recently launched a major fundraising campaign to fund the purchase of new rescue boats that will replace their current fleet of RIBs. The new boats will have a specially designed hull that offer a smoother and more stable ride in rough seas than the RIBs. (Check it out here.) VISAR worked in conjunction with the Icelandic Coast Guard to choose the best boat design for their needs.
VISAR has always been—and will continue to be—on call for our clients. To show our gratitude and to support VISAR’s mission, B&G Charter Management and Carib Blue Charters have set a goal to raise $5,000 toward the purchase of these new rescue boats. VISAR provides an absolutely vital service to all boaters in the BVI—charter guests included—and they can’t do it without the amazing volunteers they have or donations from generous supporters.
We know that our clients, like us, recognize the significant role that organizations like VISAR play in ensuring our safety at sea and that arming the volunteers with the proper rescue equipment is key to their continuing the same steadfast service they’ve always provided. We hope that both the B&G private management clients and Carib Blue Charters’ past and future charter guests will consider showing their appreciation by making a donation to this worthy cause. If you are interested in making a donation, please just let Todd or Kara know; you can reach them at +1.284.495.1446, +1.302.489.2417 or (toll-free) +1.888.593.7954, or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
